What Happens If You Vaped for 24 Hours Straight?

The idea of vaping continuously for a whole day may seem extreme, but it would place a great deal of stress on your body. After a short time, the repeated exposure to nicotine and other chemicals could make you feel sick, dizzy, and ever more unwell.

E cigarettes which contain nicotine are especially worrying since frequent inhalation can result in a large amount of nicotine being taken in over a short time span. The precise quantity will vary according to the device, the concentration of the liquid, and the depth and frequency of your inhalation.

To get an idea of how extreme this would be, imagine taking one puff each minute for 24 hours. That would amount to 1,440 puffs, which is a lot more than an average daily vaping session entails.

As time went on you would get repeated amounts of nicotine with no chance to recover, and as a result you might experience symptoms including nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches, sweating, shaking and a rapid heartbeat.

They may indicate nicotine poisoning, and in more serious cases poisoning can lead to confusion, abnormal heart rhythms, seizures, breathing difficulties, or a loss of consciousness, all of which require immediate medical attention.

You can’t work out how much nicotine is absorbed just by counting the puffs, since different kinds of devices and liquids deliver quite different amounts, and not all of the nicotine in a cartridge is certainly absorbed by the person using it.

Avoiding nicotine in vaping would get rid of the risk of nicotine poisoning, but it would not make five days of continuous vaping safe. The aerosol from e-cigarettes may contain ultrafine particles, flavouring chemicals, and metals which can irritate the respiratory system.

Your lungs could be exposed to these substances for hours at a time, which might lead to coughing, throat irritation, a sense of discomfort in the chest, or difficulty in breathing. In that case, a medical assessment would be suitable.

There is yet one more issue with continuous vaping: it causes dehydration and physical discomfort. If you inhale aerosol repeatedly for a whole day without taking many breaks, you could end up feeling tired and unwell long before looking at the chemicals concerned.

A 24-hour vaping marathon would therefore be more similar to deliberately overwhelming the body than to an extreme challenge, and the effects would differ from person to person though serious nicotine toxicity is possible, in particular when high nicotine concentrations are involved and use is frequent.

If a person experiences severe vomiting, confusion, seizures, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, or loses consciousness as a result of vaping or taking nicotine, they should immediately seek emergency medical help.

Vaping is by no means harmless, and if you use an e-cigarette continuously throughout an entire day your exposure will increase greatly. Since your body isn’t equipped to deal with a constant flow of nicotine and aerosol, the simplest and safest course of action is to avoid trying a 24-hour vaping marathon.
